Morten E. Solberg
Morton E. Solberg has spent a lifetime developing his unique style of
painting. Painting in oil, acrylic and watercolor, his techniques range from
photo realism to total abstraction, with the combination of both being his
most popular. Interested in art as a young man, Mort says there was never a
time when he didn't want to be an artist. After yeras of pursuing his craft
via design studios and commercial art, Mort migrated to the West. While
living in Southern California's Orange County, he firmly established himself
in the art world with memberships in the American Watercolor Society, The
National Watercolor Society, the Society of Animal Artists and Wildlife
Artists of the World. In 1971, Mort shed his commercial ties and
concentrated on fine art. he has been a full-time fine artist ever since.
His award-winning paintings have graced the covers of numerous magazines,
and he has been featured in American Artist, Wildlife Art News,
Art West, Sports Afield, Sporting Classic, and
Southwest Art. He was also named Artist of the Year in 1986 by
American Artist. His accomplishments have earned him recognition in
numerous Who's Who listings. Mort's interests are many and varied, and
are often reflected in his art. American Indian history and culture hold
a special allure for Mort--perhaps because one of his great grandparents
was an Indian Chief's daughter. His work has taken top awards in many of
the exhibitions he has entered, including the Society of Animal Artists,
the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society, in
addition to being part of many private collections, Mort's work can be
found at the White House, the National gallery of Art, the National Academy
of Design, and The Leigh Yawkey Woodson Museum of Art.
