Vel Miller
"I feel the need to depict the West through the eyes of a woman,"
says artist Vel Miller. "There are many things that haven't been told. I
paint and sculpt what I sincerely feel, and strive to put into each
something that will capture the audience." Vel's great success as an
artist is testament not only to her natural talent and formal training,
which included studies at the Art Students League of Los Angeles,
where she also later taught, but to her inner drive and ambition, "I
think that if you really want to do something bad enough," vel says,
"you can arrange it." Early on, Vel saw to it that even while running a
ranch household she took time to sketch and take art lessons. Southwest
Art Magazine and Artists of the Rockies Magazine have featured Vel
and her work, and she is listed in Who's Who in American Art.
